There are several established routes to reach the Palm Monorail from Dubai’s Metro system. Each offers different advantages depending on your starting point within the city. Here is how to get to Monorail Dubai by Metro.

Route 1: Via Sobha Realty Station and Dubai Tram

How to Get to Monorail Dubai by Metro via sobha realty metro station

The most common and recommended route begins at Sobha Realty Station (formerly called DAMAC Properties) on the Dubai Metro Red Line:

  1. Take the Dubai Metro Red Line to Sobha Realty Station
  2. Exit the station and ensure you follow the signs to the Dubai Marina Tram Station via the air-conditioned footbridge
  3. Take the tram to Palm Jumeirah Tram Station
  4. Walk from the tram station to Palm Gateway Monorail Station

Route 2: Via DMCC Station and Dubai Tram

An alternative route uses the DMCC (Dubai Multi Commodities Centre) Metro Station:

  1. Travel to DMCC Station on the Red Line
  2. Use the footbridge to connect to Jumeirah Lakes Towers Tram Station
  3. Take the tram to Palm Jumeirah Tram Station
  4. Walk to Palm Gateway Monorail Station

The tram ride from Jumeirah Lakes Towers to Palm Jumeirah takes approximately 12 minutes, with trams departing every 10 minutes.

Route 3: Via Dubai Internet City or Al Khail Stations

For those starting from a different point on the Red Line:

  1. Take the Dubai Metro Red Line to either Dubai Internet City or Al Khail Station
  2. From either station, take a taxi or continue using the Dubai Tram to reach Palm Gateway Station

This option might be preferable depending on your starting location in Dubai and time constraints. I would recommend Al Khail station if you want to walk to the Monorail Dubai from the metro station. Internet City is a viable option for those who are in a taxi.

Step-by-Step Guide for the Monorail Dubai Primary Route

Get to monorail dubai by metro step by step

The most direct connection between the Dubai Metro and the Palm Monorail involves using the Dubai Tram as an intermediary connection. Here is how to get to Monorail Dubai by Metro using the steps below:

Step 1: Start at Dubai Metro’s Red Line

The Red Line forms the backbone of Dubai’s Metro network, running from Centrepoint (formerly Rashidiya) in the east to Expo City Dubai in the west. It serves many areas, including Dubai International Airport, Business Bay, Burj Khalifa, Mall of the Emirates, and Dubai Marina.

Step 2: Alight at Sobha Realty Station

Exit the metro at Sobha Realty Station. The station is strategically positioned to facilitate connections to the Dubai Marina area and the Palm Jumeirah tram stop. Take the footbridge, and you will reach the tram station within 3 to 5 minutes.

Step 3: Connect to Dubai Marina Tram Station

From Sobha Realty Station, follow the signs to the footbridge that leads directly to Dubai Marina Tram Station. This air-conditioned footbridge is equipped with four travelators (two on each side) to make the walk more comfortable. Take the right-side travelators to reach Dubai Marina Tram Station.

Step 4: Take the Tram to Palm Jumeirah Tram Station

Board the Dubai Tram and travel to Palm Jumeirah Tram Station. The tram service links Dubai Metro and the Palm Monorail and runs along Al Sufouh Road and Jumeirah Beach Road. Trams generally run every 10 minutes, making this a convenient connection point.

Step 5: Walk to Palm Gateway Monorail Station

Upon arriving at Palm Jumeirah Tram Station, exit and cross to the Palm Gateway Monorail Station. It involves walking across an elevated bridge over a road, then descending stairs to reach the monorail station entrance near the One&Only Royal Mirage Hotel. The walk takes approximately 5 minutes and is well-signed for easy navigation.

Ticket Information and Pricing

The Palm Monorail requires separate tickets from the Dubai Metro and Tram system. Single-trip tickets start from 5 AED, while round-trip tickets start from 10 AED. You can buy tickets from the Monorail official website or at any station customer service desk. The good news is that you can use your NOL card to travel via the Palm Jumeirah Monorail.

Parking Facilities at the Monorail Dubai

The Palm Gateway station features over 1,600 parking spots, allowing travelers to park at the base of Palm Jumeirah and continue their journey via monorail. As an added benefit, monorail ticket holders receive three hours of free parking upon ticket validation. After the third hour, a fee of 10 AED per hour applies.

Monorail Stations and Attractions

Each monorail station provides access to different attractions in Palm Jumeirah:

  • Palm Gateway: The starting point has connections to the Dubai Tram and ample parking.
  • Al Ittihad Park: Access to a beautiful green space featuring native plant life and a 3.2km running track.
  • Nakheel Mall: Direct connection to the mall offering shopping, dining, and entertainment options.
  • Atlantis Aquaventure: The final stop, providing access to the iconic Atlantis resort and its waterpark.
