As public notice, we would like to inform you about a temporary traffic diversion planned on Sheikh Zayed Road towards Abu Dhabi, beginning from the World Trade Centre Roundabout all the way to the Expo Intersection. This strategic measure will be implemented from 7 am to 11 am over three days, from December 1 to December 3, 2023. The timing coincides with the UAE’s Union Day celebrations and the hosting of the UN Climate Change Conference COP28.
To ensure the smooth flow of traffic during this period, the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) in Dubai has devised a comprehensive traffic plan. Alternative routes, including Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Road, Sheikh Zayed bin Hamdan Al Nahyan Road, Emirates Road, Al Khail Road, Jumeirah Road, Al Wasl Road, and Al Khail Road, will be utilized.
Following the guidance of the RTA, we urge the community to utilize public transportation for their daily commutes. Stay informed by keeping an eye on directional signage and updates displayed on smart screens, providing information on temporary traffic diversions and alternative routes.
COP28 RTA Provisions
COP28, set to take place from November 30 to December 12 at Expo City Dubai, stands as a momentous event in the region. The RTA will oversee transportation within the Blue Zone for official delegations and the Green Zone for business representatives and the public. Diverse transit options such as the Dubai Metro, Dubai Bus, and taxis will be utilized for effective mobility management, ensuring a seamless flow of traffic.
To assist COP28 delegates, exclusive Nol cards have been launched, providing them with complimentary access to public transportation nationwide throughout the conference. As we look forward to the Union Day celebrations at Expo City Dubai on December 2, 2023, the temporary traffic diversion is an integral component of the extensive planning aimed at handling the heightened traffic flow resulting from these major events. We sincerely thank the public for their cooperation and understanding during this period.
